Significance: Building A266 is a contributing element of the Mare Island Historic District. It is important for its role in ordnance handling and machining late during the World War II effort, as well as for its design. Functionally, it was a key element of the ordnance handling capabilities of Mare Island during World War II. In terms of its architecture and engineering, the building is an important achievement, reflecting in its form the difficult and dangerous work that was accomplished there.
