Significance: The mammoth concrete and steel Ore Dock which dominates Marquette's Lower Harbor is an excellent example of the final phase in the evolution of the iron ore pocket dock in American industry. The dock is a fine example of mid-20th century industrial engineering and efficient construction. This structure dominates the harbor area and is a monument to the past commercial history of Marquette harbor.
