Master's Reading Room, Dickenson & Front Streets, Lahaina, Maui County, HI
Summary
Significance: The two-story structure, completed in 1834, was built as a meeting place for use by the officers of visiting ships. The upper area was the Masters Reading Room; the lower space was used for storage. Built by mission funds and contributions, the building cost "a trifle more than $750." It was in use until 1846 when it was sold at auction and became a part of the Baldwin premises. At present the building is used for living quarters.
