Summary
Significance: Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter rented this large house on the outskirts of town from 1956-1961. Formerly owned by Burr Thaddeus Wise, of of the founders of the Wise Sanitarium, this antebellum home is one of the oldest in the county and was known for years by Plains residents as the "haunted house."
