Summary
Significance: Completed in 1885, the Maverick County Courthouse was designed by Wahrenburg and Bechman, architects, of San Antonio. Its massive proportions are detailed with Gothic Revival brick corbels in the cornice and a Second Empire cupola atop the roof. The simplicity of the detailing and exterior finish of plaster over brick, represents the regional character of the "border Victorian" style.
