Summary

She is surrounded by many symbolic figures and objects, including a bat carrying the inscription "Melencolia I" below a rainbow; a large stone, ladder, hourglass, bell, and magic square; carpenter's tools and a sleeping dog; and a small putto with a notbook and ink well.
