Significance: Designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark because it was the third longest railroad bridge in the world at 790' when completed. It is also notable for the deep caisson pier construction, it's 65' height, and for the steel cantilever roadways added to each side of the railway in the 1930s to accommodate automobile traffic.
