Summary
Significance: Michler Place was originally a coordinated row of thirteen attached houses constructed by A.R. Shepherd, Governor of the Territorial Government of the District of Columbia. Built in the Second Empire style, which reached its highest popularity from 1869-1877, Michler Place is architecturally representative of Washington City's struggle to develop as a truly national urban center.
