Summary
The 277-mile-long canyon, formed over two billion years by the Colorado River in northern Arizona, is the United States' second-most-visited national park, behind the vast Great Smoky Mountain park far to the east. It was established as the 17th U.S. National Park by an Act of Congress signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson on February 26, 1919.
