Part of the Monongahela River Recording Project, which included HAER PA-300, Port Perry Bridge; HAER PA-385, Monongahela Navation Company Lock and Dam No. 7; and HAER PA-304, Lower Monongahela River Public Improvements. Individual site reports related to the Lower Monongahela River Public Improvements can be found at HAER PA-390 through HAER PA-400.
Significance: Lock & Dam No. 7 are among the oldest structures of the Monongahela River navigation system. The engineering design and materials used are typical of lock and dam engineering in the United States during the 1920s.
