Naval Air Station Chase Field, Building 1001, Independence Street, .45 mile south of intersection of Texas State Highway & Independence Street, Beeville, Bee County, TX
Summary
Significance: Building 1001 has served as the base's command center since its completion in 1943, and it survives as a good illustration of "temporary" military architecture that the Navy specified during the rapid United States military build up of the early 1940s. Though relatively insignificant alterations detract minimally from the property's overall historic character and ambiance, Building 1001 survives as one of best-preserved World War II-era properties at Naval Air Station Chase FIeld.
