New Maritime Commission acts for first time, Washington, D.C. Sept. 29. The newly created Maritime Commission meeting for the first time today sent telegrams to West Coast shippers and union officials asking that working contract, which expire today, be extended for 60 days in an effort to prevent a maritime tieup.
