New Tidal Basin bridge under construction in Washington, D.C. The famous cherry blossoms along the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C., may be viewed from a new angle next season when the million-dollar bridge across the Tidal Basin will have been completed. The bridge, which will connect Independence Avenue with the Potomac River Highway above 15th Street, is being built by the engineering firm of Alexander and Repass of Des Moines, Iowa.
