Summary
Significance: Arthur's Bakery is one of the oldest continuing retail establishments in downtown Baltimore, occupying various buildings in the retail district since 1832. Arthur's moved to this structure in 1893. Structure is of architectural significance as one of last examples, although greatly altered, of early to mid 19th C townhouse construction that proliferated throughout the area surrounding the site chosen for what is today Lexington Markets.
