Ogden Arsenal, Change House, 6318 Oak Lane, Layton, Davis County, UT

Significance: Building 2202, the Change House for the East Loading Plant, provides particularly vivid images of the accommodations made for worker safety and welfare at Ogden Arsenal during World War II. Workers in these plants handled Smokeless Powder and Tetryl, poisonous and highly explosive materials. They changed into and out of protective uniforms in Building 2202, which housed facilities for the workers to wash with sulfur and acetone. This building, along with other structures at the base, renders a unique picture of the U.S. Army build-up which occurred on the eve of and during World War II.
