Summary
Significance: The townhouse of Orville E. Babcock, private secretary to president U.S. Grant, until 1876. Babcock was indicted by the grand jury at St. Louis on Dec. 9, 1875 "for conspiracy to defraud the revenue", but was subsequently declared not guilty of the charges.
