description

Summary

Significance: The bridge was built in 1850 by Rosencrans Wood, who lived a few miles south of the bridge on a farm which is now occupied by Oscar Tschirky, the famous "Oscar of the Waldorf" Hotel. The bridge takes its name from an old inn that formerly stood directly opposite the east end, an inn which was kept by a man by the name of Perrine.
