Petition for Partition in Hall v. Lacy et al, [Law papers].
Summary
Summary: At the time of his death, Mendish Lacy owned eighty-five acres of land, which he left to several heirs. Hall bought the interest of three of the heirs. Hall then retained Lincoln and Herndon and sued Lacy's other heirs for a partition of the land. Lacy's heirs failed to appear, and the court ruled for Hall and appointed commissioners to divide the land. The commissioners reported that they could not divide the land equitably. The court sold the land to Gray for $1,721.25, and divided the money among Hall and the remaining heirs.
