Summary

Significance: Architecturally, the building is a typical industrial structure of the late nineteenth century, two and three stories in height and contributes to the Phoenix Hill Historic District. Historically, The Ohio Falls Dye and Finishing Works founded in 1897 by John E. Norris, grew to be one of the nation's largest manufacturers of canvas goods. The product was used nationally for tents, awnings, hunting clothes and during World War Two, for blackout curtains. Ohio Falls has been the only occupant of the building, in business for 86 years.
