Picturesque bridge dating back to the Romans. Another picturesque aspect of the old Roman bridge, above pictured, shows the pool underneath and the vista of mountains. Although this bridge has gathered centuries and still shows no sign of crumbling it is becoming impractical for twentieth century needs. The Italian army was forced to reconstruct it in order to facilitate automobile traffic for the grade is too sharp. The first motor transportation to cross on this bridge after the Armistice was an American Red Cross camion-truck laden with relief supplies for the destitute and war stricken people of Tirana and Durazzo
