Pioneer Lodge Number 1, East Commercial Street, Idaho City, Boise County, ID
Summary
Significance: The Pioneer Lodge Number One is both the oldest continuing lodge (1864) and the oldest lodge building (1875) in the State of Idaho. Although considerably altered, this wooden frame structure exemplifies early Idaho territorial architecture. This two story, wood frame building was constructed in 1875 at a cost of $1,974.00 to house Pioneer Lodge No. 1 the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Idaho City. The I.O.O.F. Lodge was chartered in 18654 and had held its meetings in the Masonic Hall except for a brief period in 1867 when the lodge purchased and then lost a building on Main Street in the disastrous Idaho City fire of that year.
