Summary

Significance: No. 3 Blast Furnace, also known as "Jane," was blown-in in 1948. This furnace was considerably larger than either Blast Furnace No. 1 or No. 2, with a hearth diameter of 28 feet, and 18 tuyeres. Its larger size allowed for a daily production of 2,200 tons of iron, more than twice that of No. 1 or No. 2.
