Summary

Partially hand colored engraving presents five images. The largest image shows a plan of the fortified city of Lille, France surrounded by formations of troops during the siege in 1708. Descriptive text in inset boxes around the edge of the print includes a detail inset map of the encampments of soldiers in the larger area around Lille. Across the top is a detailed engraving with scrolls and banners praising the victories of the Grand Alliance troops and dedicated to the Danish King Frederick IV. Below the plan of Lille across the bottom are three birds-eye views of the Belgian cities of Ghent, Brussels and Bruges with men on horseback in the foreground and detailed descriptive captions.
