Plattsburgh Air Force Base, Family Support Center, Florida Street, Plattsburgh, Clinton County, NY

Significance: It provided a wide variety of services to military members who were serving on SAC alert and their families. The personnel assigned to the SAC Alert Facility were often restricted to the facility for extended periods of time, and that area was off-limits to family members. Accordingly, the center provided a place for SAC alert members to spend time with their families, while remaining on alert status. The building included space for reception administration, counseling, waiting rooms, storage, and restrooms.
