Summary
Significance: Parke School is primarily significant for its Neo-classical architectural style. The building is also significant for its lengthy service in education. Parke School was named honoring the first treasurer and President of Detroit's Parke-Davis Company. In 1921 it was one of the first Detroit schools to switch to the platoon system. For nearly 80 years it has served its local community as an elementary school. Until June, 1980 it was the last operating public school in this area.
