Summary
Significance: Built for a predominantly Polish and Slavic congregation worshipping under Byzantine-Slavonic Rite. Became Saint Nicholas Greek Catholic Church in 1932 until ca. 1963. Architecturally represents traditional church forms and Art-Deco design motifs. / Beige brick-constructed; gable roof with steel vaulted ceilings. Main block: 35' x 100'; rear ell. Combination of Byzantine and Art-Deco features; tri-partite arrangement of front facade capped by copper domes and bar crosses; texture achieved through use of recessed brick panels, brick buttresses and corbelled cornices; elongated round-head gothic windows feature Art-Deco stained glass design; round windows and arched entry. Vaulted ceilings featuring artwork depicting biblical scenes.
