Summary

Print shows eight battle scenes from the American Revolutionary War on oval medallions with ribbons identifying and dating the battles and two additional scenes as panels on the base supporting the medals and depicted to the right and left of a central pedestal upon which appears the names of officers killed in battle; standing atop the pedestal is Fame blowing a trumpet from which hangs a banner labeled "Louis XVI" and "Charles III", and listing generals and statesmen from the countries supporting America (France, Spain, and the Netherlands) during the war; the battle scenes range from the battle of Trenton in December 1776 to the victory of Comte de Grimouard, commander of the Scipion, in the West Indies in November 1782. Includes corresponding text and a "Table des estampes qui composent cette suite" printed below that lists each of the plates in the set.
