Prof. James Strong. An American educator; born in N. Y. City Aug. 14, 1822; was Professor of Biblical Literature at Troy University in 1858-61, and became Professor of Exegetical Theology at Drew Theolotical Seminary in 1868. The principal work of his life was the "Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature" (10 vols. 1867-1881; 2 supplemental vols. 1885-1887). Died in Round Lakes, N.Y. Aug. 7, 1894. New Century Reference Library.
