Summary: Stapleford bought one lot of land from Thompson and gave him two promissory notes for $398.23. Thompson wanted to give Stapleford title to the lot once Stapleford paid the notes, but Stapleford failed to pay. Thompson retained Logan and Lincoln and sued Stapleford in an action of specific performance to complete the contractual obligation. Stapleford failed to appear, and the court ruled for Thompson and awarded $463.73. Stapleford failed to pay the judgment, and the court sold the lot to Thompson for $493.63.
