Significance: Significant as a typical c. 1850 millworker tenement and for its associations with Putnam's leading 19th-century industry, the manufacture of cotton cloth. Probably built c. 1847 by textile entrepreneur Hosea Ballou, later owned by Putnam Manufacturing Company.
