Summary
Significance: This Fitting Shop was constructed as part of a modernization project undertaken in 1881 by the Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works. All the firm's land on the east side of Spruce Street had been leveled, and buildings better suited to their needs constructed. These included a large, almost square building three stories high, the large interior spaces of which could accommodate the large machines made by the Rogers Works.
