Summary
Significance: The Springhouse-Kitchen is a well-preserved example of the late eighteenth- to early nineteenth -century vernacular architecture that was once common on farmsteads throughout the region. The structure was a prominent landmark during the battle of Antietam and was used as a place of refuge by soldiers of both armies.
