Route No. 1-Overton-Lake Mead Road, Between Overton Beach & Park Boundary, 6 miles south of Overton, Overton, Clark County, NV

Significance: It contributed significantly to National Park Service development of the Lake Mead National Recreational Area beginning in 1938 when the area was opened to recreational use. Drainage features along Route No. 1, particularly stone masonry culvert head walls, gutters, and low-water crossings, are excellent examples of rustic style stone construction in national parks, monuments, and recreation areas during the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. These masonry features also represent historic coordination of effort between the National Park Service and the Bureau of Public Roads to provide automobile access to, and within, park and recreation units. Diversion dikes and ditches along a portion of Route No. 1 represent the labor-intensive work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under National Park Service supervision in the late 1930s. Route No. 1 was determined to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
