Print shows man standing next to flagpole on rooftop of the Sailors Home; lumbar yard next door to building.
Handwritten along right side of print: Deposited in the Clerk's office of the Southern District of New York this 29th day of April 1842.

Building description: "The Main Building is fifty feet front by forty eight feet deep; six stories, including the Basement, with a rear Building 117 feet; to contain 150 rooms, which will accommodate 300 Seamen. Corner stone laid Oct. 14, 1841. completed May 1, 1842."
Inscribed on lower left: J. Trench, Architect.

Inscribed in ink on verso: April 29, 1842, Sailor's Home.
