Summary

Significance: The 1874 residence and ancillary structures a smokehouse and reservoir, are eligible for listing on the National Register according to Criteria A, B, C, (and D). The Sainsevain Complex is significant for its association with the Sainsevain family, early settlers and pioneers in both the lime-making industry and viticulture in this region of southern California. Furthermore, these rubble and concrete structures exemplify a type and method of construction of which there are few remaining examples.
