description

Summary

Significance: The house and farm illustrate an evolutionary development which spans 140 years. The original two-story, double-pen log house constructed about 1830 was by the late 1840s extended, with the addition of a one-story, one-room frame unit. Around the turn of the century a one-story kitchen was built at the rear. Through the years, partitioning, chimneys, openings, interior finishes, and exterior details were changed. Original log farm buildings were replaced with others of frame construction.
