Carol M. Highsmith - Santarella Estate, Tyringham, Massachusetts
Summary
Digital image produced by Carol M. Highsmith to represent her original film transparency; some details may differ between the film and the digital images.
Santarella Estate, the historic home and studio of the sculptor, Sir Henry Hudson Kitson, was built in the 18th century. Kitson's studio, affectionately known as the "Gingerbread House", gets it's name from the "storybook-style" architecture and incredible "rolling" roof. The design and construction of the building was the last major project of his life and continued for over 20 years.
