Singer's Lake Crescent Tavern, Cabin 43, Barnes Point, Lake Crescent, Port Angeles, Clallam County, WA
Summary
Significance: This building contributes to the integrity of design, workmanship, setting, and sense of time and place of Singer's Tavern Group. / Constructed in the mid 1930s, Cabin 43 was once part of a group of three or four single and duplex cabins standing in a row along on the east side of the present parking lot behind Cabins 668-673. This cluster of newer cabins was presumably built during the approximate ten-year ownership of the resort by the Seattle Trust Company. (The other two or three cabins were removed before 1951.) In the late 1950s, or early 1960s, Cabin 43 was extended approximately sixteen feet to the east: the roof pitch, exterior wall sheathing, and window style remained consistent with the existing portion of the cabin. Little is known of the social history of this building. In terms or scale, design, materials, and siting, Cabin 43 is sympathetic with the earlier structures at Singer's Lake Crescent Tavern.
