Solitude, State Route 20, Scottsville, Albemarle County, Virginia
Summary
1983 Charles E. Peterson Prize, Honorable Mention
Significance: The farm Solitude is significant as an unmodernized, largely intact example of eighteenth and nineteenth century architecture and land use in the Virginia uplands. Occupied by the Wingfield family as early as 1803, the heavy timber frame, story and a half folk house evolved from a single pen, story and a half dwelling to its current three bay form by 1807.
