Sal is from Montescaglioso in the Basilicata region of Italy. He makes the dark toasted bread rings in the plastic bags, and also the bread crumbs on the counter to the left of the rings. Vince Miraglia said many stores on the Avenue carry each other's products, and that the mutuality in business is defined, at least partly, by mutuality of origin -- many of them are from Montescaglioso.
