Somers House, State Route 183 vicinity, Jamesville, Northampton County, Virginia
Summary
Significance: The one and one-half story Somers House was constructed in the last quarter of the eighteenth century and was a good example of a finely-built, vernacular house with the side-hall plan. The side passage allowed access from the outside, with entrances on axis, as well as within the house with the stair rising against the southwest wall. Two rooms opened off the passage; both were heated by fireboxes connecting to interior end chimneys.
The house was demolished.
