Strand Historic District, Ufford Building, 303-309 Twenty-third Street, Galveston, Galveston County, TX

Significance: One of the few remaining buildings erected in Galveston before the Civil War, the Ufford Building was built by John Brown for Edmund L. Ufford. The building was started on October 23, 1860 and completed on February 22, 1861 and is characteristic of early commercial structures in Galveston.
