Subcontracting (Braden and Van Fossen Works). The speedy equipping of the armies of democracy depends upon using effectively and immediately the skill of thousands of men in shops such as the Braden and Van Fossen Works, in Staunton, Virginia. These are special jigs and other tools made up in the shop since Pearl Harbor, all of them to speed production on small war orders. The volume of such orders is much too small, and the shop is even now idle much of the time, but it is just such ingenuity as these men are showing which will mean adequate war production
