Subpoena in Chancery in Yocum et al. v. Yocum et al, [Law papers].

Summary: At the time of his death, Jacob Yocum owned 521 acres of land in Sangamon County, Illinois. Jacob Yocum's widow Mary Yocum had not yet received her dower. William Yocum and some of Jacob Yocum's other heirs retained Lincoln and Herndon and sued Mary Yocum and the remaining heirs to assign dower and to partition the land among the heirs. The court ruled for William Yocum and appointed commissioners to assign dower and partition the land. The commissioners assigned two hundred acres to Mary Yocum as her dower but were unable to divide the remaining land equitably. The court ordered the master in chancery to sell the land. The master in chancery sold the land to various people for a total of $2,256, and divided the proceeds equally among the heirs.
