description

Summary

Significance: Structure V is a concrete foundation. The foundation is located along the south slope of Horse Thief Draw approximately 1/3 mile northwest of Superior. The foundation is rectangular in shape with the long axis oriented from east to west. The overall dimensions are 41 feet 8 inches east to west by 25 feet 7 inches north to south. The foundation is divided into two rooms, a west room which is 25 feet 7 inches north to south by 9 feet 10 inches east to west. This room is 5 feet 10 inches deep to fill. The east room is larger, being 27 feet 3 inches east to west by 25 feet 7 inches north to south. This room is filled nearly to grade with earth. The east room has a short wing extending eastward from the east wall. This wing is badly collapsed making measurements uncertain. The foundation has four openings, two in the west wall and two in the wall dividing the west room from the east room. The southernmost opening in the west wall is 5 feet 5 inches north of the southwest corner. The opening is 1 foot 11 inches wide. The second opening is 7 feet 11 inches wide. The two openings along the interior wall are also 1 foot 11 inches wide. The southernmost is 5 feet 5 inches from the south wall and the northernmost is 7 feet 4 inches from the south wall. The foundations are in poor condition due to being partially collapsed as a result of the structure being razed. Sections of the concrete foundation have been pushed into the center of the feature.
