Summary
Significance: This structure is a two room residential building. The structure is located on the east slope of a south to north trending finger ridge which extends into the valley of Horse Thief Draw approximately 1 mile northwest of Superior. The building is oriented from west to east facing east. It is an L-shaped building with a gabled roof and is constructed of vertically standing railroad ties secured by a wood frame. The overall dimensions are 13 feet 11 inches east to west by 10 feet 0 inches north to south. The structure sits on sill logs of 8 inch x 8 inch milled lumber. The sill logs set directly on earth. The walls consist of vertically standing railroad ties some of which still have railroad tie plates and spikes attached to them. Materials used in the building of this structure were either discarded by the railroad or purchased second hand from the railroad. The roof of the structure is gabled with a large hewn log serving as ridge pole. The roof itself consists of milled lumber boards covered with tar paper.
