The 1919-22 John O. Schenck House, which Schenck called Altenheim ("old home" in German), in Wheeling, West Virginia

The massive limestone house, with huge Corninthian columns, became the Altenheim Home for the Aged, a retirement home for women. Schenk was president of a huge meatpacking business in town, and he was a dedicated musician who often hosted elaborate concerts at his mansion.
