The parson's cow, British Cartoon Print

description

Summary

Print shows a farmer's family gazing in amazement as their cow returns with another in tow; the parson stated "that God gives two for one at least" so the farmer gave up his strong, healthy cow to the parson in anticipation of receiving two in return. The farmer's cow did not appreciate being separated from "her well known stall" so she kicked down the door, and with the parson's lean and hungry cow reluctantly in tow, returned to the farmer. Includes lengthy verse.

Attributed to William Dent.
Forms part of: British Cartoon Prints Collection (Library of Congress).
