Here they learned to operate sewing machines and were paid for the garments they made which were in turn distrubuted free by the Red Cross to the needy. Note that the Mohammedan women attempt to hide their faces from the photographer. They had violated one precedent by removing their veils while at work

The overhanging balcony is especially built for the harem, in order that the women might look up and down the street from little grilled windows without being seen

It describes conditions found in hundreds of Roumanian villages and also notes that the big stock of clothing the Red Cross shipped to Roumania, from France last winter, has been exhausted
