Summary

Print shows the balloon "Le Flesselles," constructed by Joseph Montgolfier, ascending over the Rhone River and the city of Lyons, January 19, 1784, carrying seven passengers including Joseph Montgolfier and Pilâtre de Rozier. An enthusiastic crowd is gathred below in foreground to witness the ascent, some in carriages, some on horses.
